On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Balfour Recreation Commission, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our customers and staff members a healthy and happy festive season ahead.  I’d also like to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to a successful 2018 season here at the Balfour Golf Course.

The Balfour Recreation Commission own and operate our wonderful Les Furber designed community Golf Course.  The golf course provides a year round venue for outdoor activities.  Not only do we have one of the most picturesque courses in the province, during the winter the golf course property comes alive with people cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, and tobogganing.  During the warmer months, the trails surrounding the golf course provide the community with a natural environment for those quiet walks and connectivity to the trail system that weaves it way through our community. The golf course property and the surrounding healthy habitat hosts numerous species of wildlife including Osprey, Blue Heron, brown toads, coyotes, elk, deer, bears and many more . Of course the number one activity here is still golf however it sure is nice to know that our course really is ready for all Seasons.

The purchase of the back nine of the golf course from Osprey Ridge Golf Estates in 2017 has provided our community with security and stability moving forward.  The current Board of Directors have developed clear objectives to continually improve our asset, to be fiscally prudent, and to develop programs and products that attract a wide array of individuals to our property.

As we look toward 2019 we look to continue with the progress that was made during this year’s golf season.   Our newly titled Director of Golf Operations, Craig Wilkinson, our exceptional Greens Superintendent, Larry Olson and Annie Bailey, our unmatched Food and Beverage provider are all making preparations to continue the momentum and are very much looking forward to serving you next season.

Happy Holidays,

Norm Cassells
